The Zwanen Route (green) leads along the new housing development that arose from the 1970s between Bennebroekerbuurt and Hoofddorp and which deserved a new name. So it became Zwaanshoek, named after the swans that would have stayed here in large numbers. The reclamation put an end to that but new lakes have been created for them in Park Zwaanshoek and near the Forest Islands.
