Staatsbosbeheer beplantte dit gebied eind 20ste eeuw met snelgroeiende populieren, ter compensatie van de 19de-eeuwse houtkap door tuinderijen. Nu wandelt u er in een afwisselend bos met vennetjes en sloten die worden opgefleurd door bloeiende orchideeën en kwakende kikkers.
