Starting point Santpoort-Noord Station

Santpoort-Noord is surrounded by greenery. To the west lies the Landgoed Duin en Kruidberg estate with its impressive manor house and the ornate garden, created by landscape architect Springer. Duin en Kruidberg is a merger of the Landgoed De Cruytbergh and Buitenplaats Duin en Bergh estates. De Cruytbergh was bought in 1682 by stadtholder William III, who used the estate as a hunting lodge. The former Landgoed Westerveld estate – now Cemetery & Crematorium – is also a green oasis.

  • The Driehuis Round Trip (yellow) from Santpoort-Noord runs in a northerly direction to Driehuis. This village is best known for Memorial Park Westerveld. It’s a special experience to walk through this cemetery with the first crematorium in the Netherlands. The former 'estate' was bought by a few wealthy Amsterdam residents at the end of the 19th century to found a cemetery there. The well-known landscape architect Zocher was responsible for the design.
  • The Cruytbergh Route (orange) in Santpoort-Noord takes you to the Burgemeester Rijkenspark, named after Roelf Gerrit Rijkens, a former mayor of Velsen (1920-1932). On the other side of the track, you walk to Landgoed Duin en Kruidberg estate. You walk through the ornate garden with its pond and can relax on the terrace of the manor house dating from 1909, which is now a hotel.
  • The Princenbosch Route (purple) at Santpoort-Noord also runs across the hunting domain of the Prince of Orange. Your legs will get a workout climbing the Koepelberg (25 m). You cross the inland dunes via Midden-Herenduin. The Princenbosch path along the track offers a beautiful view of the edge of the dunes.
